John Kanzius will begin bombarding the blood of local cancer patients with his radio-frequency generator perhaps as early as today. The Millcreek Township inventor has entered into a research project with Hamot Medical Center, Saint Vincent Health Center, and two of the hospitals' joint ventures: the Regional Cancer Center and Associated Clinical Laboratories. It's the first official medical research to be done in Erie with Kanzius' cancer-killing machine. Most research is being done at M.D. Anderson Center in Houston and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center."This is huge," said Peter Depowski, M.D., Hamot's chief pathologist and project co-investigator. "We are going to do research on a novel therapy that has only been done at two other institutions in the world."Kanzius has gained worldwide attention with his invention, which has been proven to kill cancerous tumors in live animals.
